Ships separately from shelter orders.

Description

Damp storage spaces breed mildew and rust on whatever sits in them. The Davis Air-Dryr keeps the air above its dew point, so moisture stays in the air instead of settling on what you’ve stored. Plug it in and leave it on 24 hours a day.

One limit first: it needs an outlet and an enclosed room, like a garage corner, storage unit, basement or cabin. Don’t run it inside a fabric shelter or under a cover. For a bike stored in a shelter, a no-power moisture absorber like Star brite No Damp is the better fit.

How it works: it gently warms the damp air, the warm air rises out the top vents, and cooler damp air gets pulled in underneath to take its place. No fan, no switch, no thermostat. Just convection, so it’s silent.

Which size?

  • 500 cu ft: handles up to 500 cubic feet. A 14 x 5 x 4.5 in rectangle that fits in tight spots. Draws 0.6 amps, 70 watts.
  • 1,000 cu ft: handles up to 1,000 cubic feet, for a bigger storage unit, a basement room, a large boat cabin or an RV. Round, 13.5″ across and 4.25″ high. Draws 1.1 amps, 130 watts.

To pick, work out the cubic feet (length x width x height). Up to 500, the 500 is enough. Over that, up to 1,000, get the 1000.

  • Thermal cutoff shuts it off if airflow gets blocked.
  • Safe to the touch, no sparking components, UL listed, safe for marine use.
  • Davis says it costs about as much to run as a light bulb.

The rest of the off-season prep is in our motorcycle storage guide.

Common Questions

Red Harley-Davidson touring bike inside a Speedway Shelter

Can I put an Air-Dryr inside my motorcycle shelter?
No. Don’t run it inside a fabric shelter or under a cover. Use it in a garage, shed or storage unit with a 110/120V outlet. Inside a shelter, use a no-power No Damp absorber.

How does the Davis Air-Dryr work without a fan?
It warms the air just above dew point so moisture stays suspended instead of settling. Warm air rises out the top vents and cooler damp air gets drawn in. Natural convection does the work, silently.

Air-Dryr 500 or 1000: which one do I need?
Go by the space. The 500 covers up to 500 cubic feet and draws 70 watts. The 1000 covers up to 1,000 cubic feet and draws 130 watts. Both are made to run 24 hours a day.
