How Tall a Bike Fits in the Sport Shelter

The Sport's clamshell roof isn't flat. It peaks at 65.75" about 44" back from the front, then slopes down toward the rear as the ribs fan out. So the height that matters is the clearance at the spot where your bike's tallest part will sit, usually the windshield, mirrors, or handlebars.

How to check your fit:

  1. Measure your bike's length from the front tire to the rear fender. It needs to be under 108", ideally with a few inches to spare.
  2. Measure the width at the widest point, usually the handlebars or mirrors. It needs to be under 43".
  3. Measure the height of the tallest point and compare it with the clearance at that spot in the chart.
  4. Still close? Tape out a 108" × 43" rectangle on the ground and roll your bike in.

Sport clearance chart

  • 65.75" at the peak, about 44" from the front
  • 62.13" at the front frame post, about 14" from the front
  • 58.6" at 68.87" from the front
  • 55.03" at 74.26" from the front
  • 50.8" at 79.67" from the front
  • 39.95" at 89.98" from the front
  • 33.2" at 94.9" from the front

All heights are measured inside the shelter from the ground up. See every dimension on the full-size drawing.

What Fits in a Sport Motorcycle Shelter?

The Sport is sized for motorcycles with low or no windshields. Owners use it for:

  • Sport bikes, supersports, and naked street bikes
  • Cruisers and choppers without saddlebags or a tall windshield
  • Scooters, mopeds, bicycles, and e-bikes
  • Vintage and small-displacement motorcycles
  • Generators, snow blowers, and BBQs

Size up to the Touring Shelter if your bike has hard saddlebags, a tall windshield or fairing, or you want room for riding gear next to it.

Sport vs. Touring Shelter: Which Size Do You Need?

The Touring Shelter is the next size up. Inside, it's:

  • 28" longer (136" vs. 108")
  • 11" wider (54" vs. 43")
  • 12" taller at the peak (77.75" vs. 65.75")

If your bike fits the Sport with room to spare, the Sport is the lighter, more compact choice for a smaller driveway or patio. If it's tight on height or width, or you ride a bagger, go Touring. Compare all three sizes side by side.

Where Can You Set Up a Sport Shelter?

You need a level spot at least as big as the outside footprint, 110" × 45", with room to walk around it. Common spots:

  • Concrete or asphalt driveways and pads: anchor directly with the 6 included concrete/asphalt bolts.
  • Patios: an easy way to give a bike its own garage next to the house.
  • Grass, gravel, or pavers: build a level wooden base and anchor the shelter to it. A wooden base also keeps the shelter portable.
  • Inside a garage or carport: keeps dust, dings, and curious hands off your bike.

How to Store a Sport Bike Outside

The shelter handles rain, snow, and sun. A few habits keep your bike ready to ride after weeks or months in storage:

  • Wash and dry it first so dirt and moisture aren't sealed in with the bike.
  • Fill the tank and add fuel stabilizer, then run the engine for a few minutes to circulate it.
  • Keep the battery charged with a battery tender, or remove it and store it somewhere it won't freeze.
  • Check tire pressure. A rubber floor keeps tires off cold, damp ground.
  • Open the vented windows in humid weather so moisture can escape.
  • Anchor and lock it so wind and thieves can't move it.

Sport shelter FAQ

Sport Motorcycle Shelter Questions

Will a cruiser fit in the Sport shelter?

Many will. Cruisers and choppers without saddlebags or a tall windshield usually fit inside the Sport's 108" × 43" × 65.75" interior. If yours has hard bags or a full windshield, choose the Touring Shelter.

Can I store a scooter, e-bike, or bicycles in it?

Yes. Scooters, mopeds, e-bikes, and bicycles fit easily, with room left over for gear.

How much does the Sport shelter weigh?

61 lb. Most of that is the 3/4" square-tube, 16-gauge steel frame, which holds 150+ lbs of snow. It packs into the included heavy-duty carry bag.

Do I need to anchor the Sport shelter?

Yes, we recommend it. The frame has 6 anchor points and comes with 6 concrete/asphalt anchor bolts. On grass or gravel, anchor it to a level wooden base.

Can I ride in with a hot exhaust?

Yes. The steel frame holds the cover off your bike, so you can ride in with hot pipes and close it right away.

How long does the Sport cover last?

Covers typically last 3–4 years in full sun. A Double Duty UV cover extends that by years, and when the cover does wear out, you replace just the cover, not the frame.
