Bike Barn Closed? A Shelter That's Still Sold and Backed

The Bike Barn has closed. Its website now says the company is no longer in business and that phone and online support have ended. If your bike or trike has lived under one for years, you're probably wondering what happens when the cover wears out or a part breaks. We're Speedway Shelters, a small American family business in Soquel, California, and we've sold steel-frame motorcycle and trike shelters for 18+ years. Here's how our sizes line up and how we back them.

By Joshua Mezman, owner of Speedway Shelters

Sport $429.95 · Touring $490.95 · Deluxe $574.95

Pick your size by what you ride

We sell three sizes. Go by the inside width, because that's what decides whether the bags or the back end of a trike fit.

Sport Shelter

43" wide inside · $429.95

Sport bikes, cruisers without bags, scooters and e-bikes.

Touring Shelter

54" wide inside · $490.95

Harley baggers, Gold Wings and other full-dress touring bikes. Our best seller.

Deluxe Shelter

78" wide x 138" long inside · $574.95

Trikes, Can-Am Spyders and Rykers, or two bikes side by side. Start here if your Bike Barn held a trike.

Inside sizes are from our spec pages. Trunks, racks and hitches change the numbers, so go by your own tape measure, or send us your bike and we'll check it.

How we back every shelter

10-year frame warranty for the original owner, plus a 1-year warranty on the whole shelter.
31-day returns.
Replacement covers made for our frames, sold by model (SS-1, TS-1, DS-1), so a worn cover doesn't mean a new shelter.
A family crew, not a call center. Email us and the people who ship your shelter answer.
heavy-duty steel frame that folds back like a fan, 600D urethane-coated cover with taped seams, locks closed, setup in about 20 to 30 minutes.

Owners who've kept ours for years

We won't guess how our shelter compares with a Bike Barn's build. Here's what we can show you: customers' own photos of Speedway Shelters that have stood outside for years.

Two Speedway Shelters under fresh snow in a residential neighborhood in winter
Barbra and her husband bought a Deluxe Trike Shelter for their Can-Am, then a second shelter for their Indian Scout. Five years on, they use both year-round.
Red Harley-Davidson touring bike inside a Speedway Shelter
This Road Glide rider has used his Deluxe for six years. In winter he closes it up and tunes the bike inside, so it's ready in spring.
Tan golf cart in an open Speedway Shelter on a plywood platform beside a camper
A Deluxe on custom flooring has kept this golf cart dry and off the ground for four years. The flooring gives the shelter a solid anchor point.

“Over 30 inches of snow was dumped on us! … It was pretty stressful during the storm but it held up great!”

Maryellen G., Plainville, MA, Deluxe Trike Shelter for her Can-Am Spyder, February 2026

“I was able to anchor the Shelter to the concrete pad which gave the Shelter tremendous stability. … I love this Shelter and how it protects my Trike!”

Denny G., Manheim, PA, Harley trike, October 2026

Cover life: in full sun, a cover on its own lasts about 3 to 4 years. A Double Duty UV cover on top makes it last longer. When it wears out, you buy a new cover for your model, not a new shelter.

What the motorcycle press found

  • Motorcycle.com tested one in February 2023 and called it “the next best thing to having a garage.” Speedway provided the review units.
  • Hot Bike tested one as a winter option for riders without a garage. After months of heat and rain, they reported the bike stayed clean, dry and running well.
  • John from RoadReality bought a shelter for his Road Glide to replace a trailer and filmed the whole install. He later joined our affiliate program.

Bike Barn owner questions

Is The Bike Barn really closed? Yes. As of November 2026, thebikebarn.net shows a notice that the company is no longer in business and that phone support, online support and customer service have ended.

I kept a trike in my Bike Barn. Which size should I look at? The Deluxe. It's 78 inches wide and 138 long inside, and we've confirmed Can-Am Spyders and Rykers fit it. Our trike shelter page has the numbers for four common trikes. Measure yours, or send us the numbers and we'll check.

Will a Speedway cover fit my Bike Barn frame? We haven't tested one, so we won't tell you it does. Our covers are cut for our own frames.

Can it sit on grass or gravel? Yes, on a wood base. Our wood base guide has the cut list for each size.
